人生の坂を登り続けて、今、私は故郷カシャンで古いカシャンの図柄の絨毯を手紡ぎ糸、草木染で制作しています。
時代とともに、いにしえの趣ある絨毯が見られなくなった今日、いつか自分でカシャン独特の洗練された品格のある絨毯をつくりたいと思い続けていました。手間ひまのかかる草木染や手紡ぎ糸での制作は困難で職人たちの抵抗にあいましたが、草木染を守ってきた老人がまだ健在であったことに救われました。彼の経験からも沢山の事を学び、カシャンの絨毯とトルケマンの絨毯を制作しました。
流石、カシャンはサファビー朝時代王室工房があった伝統のある町です。図案家、染の職人、織手は確かな技量をそなえていました。
物づくりにおいて何よりも人と人との信頼関係が大切である事を痛感しました。祖父や、父を尊敬してくれる人々がいたからこそ、素晴らしい絨毯を制作したいという熱意をしっかり受け止めてくれました。
トルケマンでも今では忘れられた図柄、色彩の古い絨毯再創造をしました。
私の人生の集大成とでもいうべき、カシャンとトルケマンの絨毯をご覧いただければ幸いです。
